The
Somerset Levels are steeped in Arthurian Legend. From Glastonbury Abbey
where Arthur's tomb is said to be, to Cadbury Castle the possible location of
Camelot, to Pomparles Bridge from where Arthur is said to have thrown Excalibur! The levels are great for cycling so why not bring your bike along and take in

Wookey Hole Caves and Paper Mill are just 5 miles away from the farm.
Probably the best caves in the UK, Wookey Hole also contains a paper mill, archaeological
finds and a Victorian amusement arcade ('What the Butler saw'!). To find out

Awesome scenery awaits you in Cheddar Gorge, together with tourist shops for
souvenirs, a crazy golf site and some quality Ice Cream from the A. J. Derrick
shop (recommended to be topped with clotted cream and a flake)! There is also a
reservoir and a Tourist Information Office and Cream Teas are also highly
recommended (see our Food and Drink page for more

For shopping, try these small towns out. Just 5-8 miles away, they are ideal
to wander round. Wells (smallest city in England) is famous for it's well
waters, Cathedral and Bishops Palace. Glastonbury has some fantastic shops to visit from incense
sticks to magical potions:- a really different experience! Glastonbury also has
the Abbey Ruins (King Arthur's birthplace), Tor and Chalice Well - well
worth visiting! Street is an excellent shopping town, famous for Clarks
Shoes; also has lots of charity shops for bargains! 3 Miles west of the
farm is Wedmore, where King Alfred (the chap who burnt the cakes !)
brought the Danish king when he made peace with him. Wedmore was mentioned in
the Doomsday book and features heavily in Somerset folklore. Burnham, Weston-super-Mare and Minehead Beaches !!!
If you fancy a day out at the beach, you will find these traditional English
seaside towns a real treat. About 15 miles west of the farm ! Burnham on Sea and
Weston-super-Mare have all you could want for a true English seaside experience;
fish and chips, clean beaches, donkey rides for the kids, ice cream on long hot
summer afternoons, and a pier at Weston to stroll along. Around the coastal
corner lies Minehead with its West Somerset Steam
Railway!Longleat

Simply a superb full day out. The
Country House and home of Lord Bath. It has a Safari Park (with a bus if
you value your car!), Dr Who Exhibition, Gardens, an Excellent Maze, WWII
exhibitions (including some original paintings by Adolf Hitler!), classic car
collection and much much more makes this a great family day out. NOTE: Get
there early to do all the events in one day!!! You may be lucky enough to be
there on a day to see Lord Baths Murals! Recently there is a hot air
balloon ride to go up and down in (extra charge).Other Local Places to Visit
A Working Water Mill (Burcott) , Cheddar Car Boot Sale (every Sunday is a real treat !), King Johns Hunting Lodge (Axbridge), Clarks Shopping Village (Street), Peat Moors Visitors Centre, Cheddar Caves, Bath (Roman Baths!) ... the list goes on and on!
